윤승일 "폴" 박사

1987년 경희대학교 한의학과를 졸업하고 김홍경 원장님의 지도 아래 삼암침연구회를 통해 산간 오지에서 봉사 활동을 시작했습니다. 신농백초한의원에서 진료하던 중, 1992년 한국 한의사들 사이에서 떠오르던 카이로프랙틱 열풍에 동참하기로 결심했습니다. 미국에서 온 카이로프랙터들에게 가르침을 받으며 미국 유학을 결심했습니다.
1995년, 저는 댈러스 파커 카이로프랙틱 대학에 입학하는 영광을 누렸습니다. 그곳에서 침술과 한약에만 집중하던 제 삶은 큰 변화를 맞이했습니다. 댈러스에서 열린 여러 학회와 학회에 참석하면서 신경학, 응용 운동학, 영양학 등의 분야가 카이로프랙틱 치료와 깊이 연관되어 있다는 것을 깨달았습니다.
2000년부터 매달 한국을 방문하여 가톨릭중앙의료원, 세종문화회관, 경희대 대강당, 코엑스 세미나실 등에서 서양 의사와 한의사를 대상으로 강연을 해왔습니다. 처음에는 기능의학에 중점을 두고 오메가-3, 코엔자임 Q10, 프로바이오틱스 등 다양한 주제를 다루었습니다. 돌이켜보면 그때의 자료들은 아직도 생생하고 의미 있게 다가옵니다.
의료진 여러분의 뜨거운 호응 덕분에 한국 방문 기간 동안 척추신경학, 응용운동학, 척추치료 등 다양한 강의를 할 수 있었습니다.
한국 생활이 점차 안정되면서, 2006년 강남 선릉역 근처에 정형외과 전문의와 협력 병원을 설립했습니다. 미국에서의 경험을 바탕으로 새로운 치료 시스템을 도입하여 한국 환자들에게 진료를 제공하는 동시에 학회 강연도 꾸준히 진행하고 있습니다.
시간이 지나면서 저는 석사와 박사 학위를 취득하고, 방문 교수로 임명되었으며, 대한기능의학영양학회(KFMNA) 회장을 역임하여 서양 의사와 한국 의사들에게 새로운 의학 정보를 공유했습니다.
저는 신경학 연구를 통해 뇌 기능을 깊이 있게 연구하였고, 특히 빙빙한의원에서 만성 현기증과 이명을 전문적으로 치료하였습니다.
최근 미국에서 근골격계 초음파 검사자 자격증을 취득한 후, 초음파를 이용하여 척추와 관절의 만성통증, 특히 목, 허리, 골반, 어깨, 무릎의 만성통증을 진단하고, 진단용 초음파를 이용하여 침치료를 시행하고 있습니다.
이는 의심할 여지 없이 훌륭한 치료법이지만, 미국에서는 침술사가 약초침을 투여하는 것이 허용되지 않기 때문에 저는 초음파를 이용한 다양한 침술 치료법을 활용하여 최적의 통증 치료를 제공하고자 노력하고 있습니다.
저는 댈러스에서 최고의 치료를 제공하기 위해 최선을 다하고 있습니다.
